Chegaga desert is the wildest desert in Morocco, only reachable by SUVs and experienced drivers, it has succeeded in preserving its charm, its tranquility and authenticity as an untouched desert. The peacefulness and feeling of liberty that you get in Chegaga is unmatched in any other desert destination. Once there, no minivans, small cars or large groups of tourists in sight, and that makes a big difference.

Itinerary
Leaving Marrakech towards the Atlas mountains, we will cross the high pass of Tichka, and descend via Ounila valley, make a stop at the Kasbah of Telouet, then continue to Ait benhaddou for a guided walking visit of the village. After Ait benhaddou, we will head to Ouarzazate, with optional visits to one of the cinema studios there.
We will continue our drive south towards Zagora via the Draa valley and its long stretched palm-groves.
We will spend the night in a nice hotel with diner included.
Leaving Zagora after a nice breakfast,we will visit the town of Tamegroute, and some pottery artisanal work, then follow the path until M'hamid village, where the asphalt ends and begins the off-roading track towards Chegaga dunes, crossing arid landscapes, desert rivers and tiny dunes on the way. Arriving at around 4 pm to our destination camp in the middle of nowhere, You will ride the camels from the camp and head to the large dunes for a mesmerizing tour during sunset time,
Once back at the camp, you will be greeted with mint tea, and will be shown to your tents to relax before diner time, musical plays and ambient are in order.
Early morning start to enjoy the sunrise over the golden dunes of Chegaga, and after a rich energetic breakfast, we will pack our things and say goodbye to our hosts, continuing our route throughout the barren desert and plateaus, crossing the dried vast lake of Iriqui. We will regain the asphalt road after a while, and continue heading north towards Marrakech with a lunch stop along the way.
